Tips and F.A.Q.
| Air Pressure: On the Air Curtain Faceplate models, the Pressure Relief valve is set at 10 psi. Generally, 5 psi will give you a nice air wash across the faceplate. The air exits through a .020" high slot covering just under half of the faceplate diameter, and will do a good job of keeping dust and mist off. The hose fitting is a standard 5/16" press-in fitting. |

| Air Curtain Conversion on the 35C series (except FDA version): If you have a Non-Air Curtain enclosure, and decide you want to convert it to the Air Curtain Faceplate, you will need the following: The hose fitting and pressure relief valve, the faceplate/barrel O-ring, and the Air Curtain Gasket (and, of course a supply of clean, dry air). Conversion time for the enclosure itself takes about five minutes. The relief valve requires a 3/4" socket/wrench, and the hose fitting requires a 9/16" open end wrench. Put LOCTITE Blue on the pressure relief valve threads to eliminate leakage. Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum jelly before installing it into the groove at the inside rear of the faceplate. Replace the existing Plain Faceplate Gasket with the Air Curtain Gasket (the Air Curtain Gasket has four cutouts in it). |

KG1 Viewport and Strobe: If you are using the KG1 Heat Absorbing faceplate, you may not want to use an IR strobe to illuminate the object you are viewing. Schott KG1 glass has at least 50% transmittance from 320nm to 730nm. However, at 810nm (the frequency of many IR LED strobes), it is down to about 25% transmittance. Above 1000nm, KG1 generally absorbs or reflects at least 98% of the energy aimed at it. |

| Drilling Cord Grips: To get the cleanest holes when drilling out the PG29 or PG36 cable gland split inserts, cool the insert in a freezer for about 30 minutes before drilling. Be sure to drill from the front of the connector, use a sharp bit and drill at low speed (about 800 rpm) for best results. Be sure to back the drill out and clear the chips regularly (every 1/4" or so). This will give a rounder hole. |
